My Brain Hurts- again :)

Lynn- your lesson today had such depth! We are so lucky to have you in our district and, of course, as a part of AWP. I loved that you use the artwork from New Yorker to provoke thought in your students. I think I'll use an activity like this as I start the year off and I'm working to get the kids to see themselves part of a learning community rather than captives waiting to be released each day at 2:40
Great Job!!

  1. No Joke. I am gladly going to "steal" this.

  2. I think this would be so excellent as a social studies unit too - you really should see about meeting with one of your fellow staff - this meets lots of their ocs too. The part I like best is your pace - moving from one thing to another - I actually got it and I felt energized today instead of tired and we didn't get out of our seats!

  3. Students in Lynn's class are adding to their "bank" account with this lesson.

  4. This lesson definitely has potential in the social studies arena.

  5. But let's not divide classes into such specific areas. Social Studies, art, literature, etc, etc ... they all tie in together and meld.
Life can be seen as a whole instead of parts.
Can't we bring it all together? Maybe that is easier in the elementary grades.......
