Letters to administration
I thought that this activity was really eye opening. It was something like someone saying "OK If you really want this, then tell me why it is important." And then we just stand there with our mouths open and no words to fill it. Articulating how and why the current system is not working was my starting point. I then gave examples of how writing could be incorporated into different disciplines. Do any of you think that you will actually send a letter like this?

I asked myself that while I was writing it. On one hand, I think it's important enough where something like it deserves to be written. On the other, I kept picturing people laughing at me as they read it...I think it would require MAJOR revision...I would love more input from our class before I considered it.
ReplyDeleteI would love for us to come up with a group letter, one that represents us all, and send that to our administrators. There is power in numbers.
ReplyDeleteI don't know about the letter, but I definitely see myself having a conversation with my principal about Writing to Learn. I would be comfortable in presenting a teaching lesson for W2L
