Mark's Demo

I wasn't sure where that demo was going but I sure like where we went - I am really excited to try something similar - I think my students will love it - they will especially love reading the "letters" out loud in different tones and I haven't really worked on tone at all (is that an OCT? for 5th grade?) anyway, I'm excited to add another component to their writing - thanks mark

  1. Thanks Deb. Glad you had fun. My students always enjoy this one, and again, I owe it to some anonymous soul on the web.

  2. What an excellent way to teach tone. I'm sure even 5th grade students could get their teeth into a lesson on tone given in this manner. I'm sure I would shorten the list before giving it to 10/11 year olds but I can see the importance of a lesson like this and its implementation in my classroom.

  3. I think Mark's lesson would be great to use as a professional development in terms of email messages...and make sure administrators are present. Additionally, it relates to how we communicate with parent notes, etc.

Recently I was in a class where we had to do a word sort with a group of words. The instructor put all of the words on individual cards and then we could manipulate them around however we needed. This was a great 'hands on' way to do this for tactile learners and I think it work well for grouping all of the tone words.
