grammar wars

I'm sure the debate over how much grammar is enough will rage on beyond our careers. Am I hearing that we basically agree that we do not want the mechanics to hinder the depths of our students' expression of idea and thought?

  1. I think we might have consensus on that, but maybe no "amen."

  4. This is a delicate area. We may have to address the most pressing needs of each student to the extent that we can and encourage additional work by the student to achieve to the fullest.

  5. I'm sure the debate will continue, however, it's interesting how difficult it was to continue on with my own personal narrative with the glaring red squigglies under my writing. There were times when corrections had to be made before I could go to the next line! The good news was I had no error messages that read: passive voice consider revising!
